Rodeo-Chediski Fire

This website provides information about an ongoing IALC (International Arid Lands Consortium) project that is exploring dryland vegetation dynamics and landscape vulnerability to wildfire.

The goal of the Post-fire Vulnerability project is to enhance our ability to assess temporal vegetation dynamics influencing landscape vulnerability to precipitation and wildfire in dryland ecosystems and predict post-fire soil erosion risk. We are using satellite derived vegetation dynamics, field-based biophysical measurements and data integration methods to assess pre- and post-wildfire land degradation and vegetation rehabilitation. Our objectives are to incorporate seasonal and geospatial vegetation and climate products into an erosion assessment model, assess vegetation regeneration, and integrate project outputs into a conceptual framework for post-fire vulnerability assessment.
